I am an Independent Baptist preacher and I say this without shame. I mainly preach in Independent Baptist churches but I have also preached in other denominations. God has called me to preach the Gospel (the death, burial, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ) and I intend to do so as the doors of opportunity open.
God has not called me to convert other denominations to Independent Baptists, so I will consider preaching in other denominational churches. Listed below are my convictions that churches and pastors need to be aware of as they consider me to preach.
1) I believe in and preach ONLY from the 1611 King James Bible. I believe in the inspiration and preservation of the 1611 KJB and I believe it is God's final authority without error. (Isaiah 40:8, Ps.12:6-7, Mt. 24:35)
2) I believe Jesus died for the sins of the world (all mankind) (John 3:16), He was buried (John 19:38-42),He arose from the grave three days later (Luke 24:6-7) and He is now sitting at the right hand of God making intercession for the believer (Hebrews 7:25)
3) I believe ONLY in salvation by grace through faith (Luke 7:50, John 1:10-13, John 3:17-18, Gal.3:24-26, Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Romans 10:9-10; 13).
4) I believe that baptism (by emersion) is an ordinance of the local church and should be followed after one has received Christ as Lord and Savior by faith. I do NOT believe that baptism is essential for salvation.
Malachi 3:6 says, "I am the LORD, I change not." I believe the same salvation that came to those bible characters in Heb.11 is the same salvation that is bestowed to sinners of today--through faith alone, not faith plus water baptism. I believe this is still God's method of salvation. I believe baptism is an act of obedience to signify to others that one is a follower of Jesus Christ.(Acts 10: 44-48, Acts 16: 30-31, Eph. 1:13, Romans 10:9-10; 13)
5) I believe in the eternal security of the believer (Eccl. 3:14, Ps. 37:24, Eph. 1:13, 4:30, Heb. 13:5b,1 John 3:9)
6) I believe in a literal heaven where the blood-washed saints of God will go upon death (or in the rapture) and a literal fire burning hell where Christ rejecters will go.(John 14:1-3, 1 Thess. 4:13-18, Rev. 21:8)
7) I am not affiliated with any association within a church. I believe in the autonomy of the local church, being lead by a God-fearing male preacher.
